Ergani Centre with the occasion of its 20 year anniversary and the emergence of its promotion as a good European practice in the project WINNET 8 (funded by the CI INTERREG IV C) organizes, with the support of the Chamber of Small and Medium Sized Industries of Thessaloniki, an event that will be held on Monday, November 7th at 6.30 pm at the hall of The Chamber of Small and Medium Sized Industries of Thessaloniki, (Aristotelous str, nr 27, 4th floor). This event aims to exchange views concerning the development of entrepreneurship today, the openness and innovation of women's enterprises, the adaptability of businesses to new market conditions, as well as the emergence of good European practices in supporting women's entrepreneurship. The event is co-organized with the Chamber of Small and Medium Sized Industries of Thessaloniki.

The Winnet 8 European seminar aim is to disseminate the Winnet 8 final result of policy recommendations and action plans for the next Regional Operation Program (ROP) 2014, which relates to the women’s status on the labour market, and to ensure that gender perspective are integrated into EU Cohesion policy and EU 2020 Strategy in the European North, South, East and West zones of European Union. The Ergani Center and the Region of Western Macedonia are inviting you to the Winnet8 project Final Conference that will take place at Kastoria city from 12 – 14 September 2011, in Greece. The theme of the conference will be “Women Resource Centres Promoting Innovation in Gender Equality across Europe, tackling the gender segregation on the labour market, influencing policy and actions, promoting good practices”. At the Conference will participate representatives from all Winnet8 partners, representatives from the European Commission, Decision Makers, European, National, Regional and Local Authorities, NGO’s, Members of the Greek parliament, academics, trade unions etc.

On May 16, 2011 at 17:00 p.m. Ergani Center and the Region of Western Macedonia, organized a round table event in Kozani, in the building of the Region. The event was organized within the framework of Winnet 8 project and its theme was the Development of a New Regional Policy with Gender Perspective. During the event Ms Alexandra Lygoura presented the results of the research that Ergani Center undertook regarding the position of women in the region, their problems but their proposals for improvement as well. The General Secretary of the Decentralized Administration of Epirus and Western Macedonia Mrs Dimitra Georgakopoulou – Basta kicked off the round table event. Ms Popi Sourmaidou, the Ergani Center’s managing director was the moderator of the discussion panel and launched an open consultation process concerning the new Plan for Gender Equality that will be submitted by the end of the Winnet 8 project. The presence of Mrs Britt-Marie Torstensson, president of the WINNET Europe Association and responsible for the communication and dissemination of Winnet 8 project was big honor for the Greek national round table event. Moreover at the invitation responded members of the Greek Parliament, Regional Counselors, Mayors, representatives of social, business, trade union organizations and members of women agricultural cooperatives who by the end of the event offered delicatessen made by local products.

On Monday 16th of May2011, in the Neapoli – Sykies Municipality’s council chamber a meeting was held among organizations that are located in the region of Central Macedonia. Most significant objective of the meeting was the exchange and recording of ideas regarding the implementation of new actions but also the vertical and horizontal cooperation of this region’s organizations. Our past experience on projects’ implementation showed weaknesses and problems but also good practices, Ergani Centre took the imitative to organize this meeting in order a fruitful dialogue to begin and a new “tank” of possible cooperations and ideas to be used within the framework of co-funded projects in the future. The incentive for this meeting was the presence of Mrs. Britt- Marie Torstensson, president of the European Organization WINNET Europe Association and responsible for the communication and dissemination of the WINNET8 project, which is funded by the Interreg IVC program, but also the preparation of a Regional Plan for Equality for the regions of Central and Western Macedonia. For the preparation of this plan will be used good practices from Greece and other participating countries, suggestions from other organizations and collectives that dealing with equality issues, equal opportunities, support of employment and entepreneurship. The meeting had great success because 53 persons from 38 organizations participated! The debate showed that there is goodwill for real cooperation, there are new suggestions and there is room for promising actions. Another positive point of the meeting was that representatives of organizations with different background and field of interest, took part and many of them sat for the first time around the same table.

Ergani Centre participates in the WINNET8 project, which it is funded by the INTERREG IVC program. The main objective of the project is to improve woman’s position in social and economic life by recognizing her as a significant factor for the local and regional development. Ergani Center and the Cultural Association of Lithotopos, Serres, invite you to an event in order to inform you on ‘the Development of Business Initiatives for the women in rural areas’ Date: Saturday, 12th of March 2011, at 6 pm Place: events’ hall of St Charalampos, Lithotopos This event is open for all the women of the area but also all interested on the creation and development of cooperatives and small businesses in rural areas. We will have also the opportunity to inform you on the goals and actions of WINNET8 project dealing with the local and regional development through the equal participation of the women in the labor market
